We are sorry to announce that Bob passed away in December of 2022. His joy of life and deep appreciation of the natural beauty of God's creation will continue to shine in the paintings he left behind. He will be greatly missed.
We plan to make some of his work available for purchase through this site. If you are interested, please write us on the Contact page. Thank you. Bob Knudson painted the western landscape since 1963. His work is well known among lovers of western art through many showings in art galleries across the west.
He was noted for his innovative use of the medium of pastels, but was equally at home in acrylics, watercolors, and oils. Love of painting and love of the west was Bob's strong motivation and highest pleasure. From the deserts of Arizona to the mountains of Wyoming, his art expresses the clean grandeur and validity of Nature apart from Man's influence. While Knudson's approach to painting was representational, his approach to his subject matter was interpretive. "A painting should reveal the distillation of something in the spirit of the artist," he noted. "Not just what I see, but what I feel about what I see. Not just to report in an artistic way, but to interpret creatively what most moves me about a moment and place in time." |
